Can you recognize a deception when you see it? Advertisements promise a great deal, but it seems that the real product comes nowhere near what was promised. The internet is filled with almost any information you could ask for, but there are deceptive practices everywhere. There are unscrupulous people who will make a fake website and try to draw you into giving them your personal information. According to some emails I have received, I had rich relatives I never heard of who lived overseas and have left me several million dollars. All I need to do is reply back with my bank information so they can put the money in my account. Isn’t it thoughtful of them to search for me all over the world and offer to help me get rich? Of course that is a lie. Yes, there is deception everywhere, but the greatest deception and lie is what sin promises.

The bible says in Romans 6:23 that “…the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Sin is an intentional act of disobedience that is an offense against God. Sin’s lie is that once you indulge in the sinful act it promises overwhelming pleasure and sense of satisfaction, but it does the opposite. Think about it like this, a wage is what you get for what you do. Sin promises a big payoff, but actually leads to destruction and ultimately eternal death in hell. Is there a remedy for this demise? There is and it is found in something God has already done for you.

The verse above says that the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. A gift is what you get for nothing. You cannot earn it, but you must receive it. Jesus died on the cross for you. He raised Himself from death and became victorious over sin and eternal death. All you must do is accept Him as Lord. Does your sin burden you to the point that you call upon God? If so, you can receive God’s free gift of salvation and eternal life. Pray now and ask Christ to be your Savior. Don’t be deceived any longer by sin’s lie when, now, you know God’s truth.
